Caesars Forms Arizona Sports Betting Partnership With Diamondbacks

Caesars Entertainment and the Arizona Diamondbacks MLB team have announced a landmark sports betting partnership. The deal comes as Arizona sports betting moves through the legal process.

The deal includes the launch of a mobile sports betting app in Arizona. Additionally, Caesars will build a sportsbook and bar on the plaza near Chase Field, where the Diamondbacks play.

“We went through a thorough process to identify the ideal partner that would bring experience and the strongest of reputations in legalized gaming,” said D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall. “Caesars is considered the cream of the crop and aligns with our philosophy when it comes to professionalism, brand presentation, and customer treatment and brings its best in class William Hill mobile sportsbook product and retail sports betting expertise. Equally important, we went through our strong due diligence to find the industry leader in the education and execution of responsible gaming.”

“We have long enjoyed successful gaming operations in Arizona and are delighted to expand into sports betting alongside the Arizona Diamondbacks,” said Tom Reeg, CEO of Caesars Entertainment. “Together, we have the opportunity to create new ways for baseball fans to engage with the game both in-person near the ballpark and online anywhere in Arizona. Our ability to tie those into our Caesars Rewards network will create an unbeatable experience for any sports fan.”

Caesars Making Moves

This deal gives Caesars market access to Arizona, which will launch sports betting later in 2021 or early 2022, pending legislation and regulations. Caesars also recently became an authorized gaming operator of the MLB.

But in bigger, more nationwide news, Caesars Entertainment completed its acquisition of William Hill on April 22, 2021. According to the company’s CEO, Tom Reeg, William Hill will become Caesars Sports at some point in the future. It’s likely this change could take effect in time for Caesars Sports to launch in Arizona.
