One of the most anticipated games in Week One of the NFL season is the Kansas City Chiefs traveling west to face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Both teams made the playoffs last season and are expected to be formidable in the 2022-23 NFL season.
Kansas launched online sports betting earlier this month, and DraftKings Sportsbook is offering a special promo to customers in that state for the Chiefs/Cardinals game.
All you have to do is wager on the Chiefs Team Total, and if Kansas City scores a single point, your odds are boosted +100. That means a $50 bet gets you $100. A $10 bet returns $20, a $17 bet gets you $34. Got it, math geniuses?
The Chiefs haven’t been shut out since December of 2012. Kansas City has the most multi-faceted quarterback in football in Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs signal-caller is known to make no-look passes, use his happy feet to extend plays, and show off an arm that can hurl the pigskin 60+ yards in a tight spiral.
This is a no-brainer, first-week NFL wager for Kansas bettors that’s likely to pad your DraftKings account with $50 in betting credits. It doesn’t matter who wins the game: all you need to be a winner in this DraftKings promo is a single point from the Chiefs. Half a safety, for goodness sakes*
DraftKings Kansas Promo: How the Odds Boost Works
An odds boost may not be familiar to the average sports bettor. Even seasoned NFL bettors old enough to remember Joe Namath’s famous guarantee victory in Super Bowl III, may not understand an odds boost.
An odds boost moves the odds in favor of the bettor. With an odds boost promotion like this one from DraftKings for users in Kansas, the sportsbook is almost giving a guarantee of winnings in return for a wager being placed.
For the Chiefs/Cardinals game, which will kick off at 4:25 p.m. EDT on Sunday, Sept. 11, Kansas bettors can double their money if Kansas City scores a point on wagers up to $50.
Here’s how the odds boost works:
- Login to your DraftKings Kansas account or open a new account in Kansas.
- Place a wager on the Kansas City Chiefs Team Total Over 0.5 in the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Arizona Cardinals game (find it under ‘DK Specials’). Your max bet is $50, and you may only place one wager for these odds.
- Be sure to select the odds boost in your DraftKings betslip before placing the bet to apply the boosted price.
- You will immediately receive boosted odds of +100 (the market odds for the Chiefs to score zero points on Sunday is -20000)
In Kansas, DraftKings users will see “Double Your Money – Bet up to $50 on the Chiefs to score a point” on their DK sportsbook homepage in the days leading up to kickoff of the Chiefs/Cardinals game. This odds boost will expire on Sept. 11 at 4:25 p.m. EDT.
Remember to opt-in for this special promo available in Kansas by clicking the Odds Boost in your betslip after placing a wager on Kansas City Chiefs Team Total’ Over 0.5 for Week One against the Arizona Cardinals.
Chiefs (-6) Favored Over Cardinals in Week One
Last season the Arizona Cardinals surprised even the most fanatical followers by winning their first seven games. That’s such a great start that it wasn’t even a great start any longer (how many games can a start be?).
But the Cardinals offense began to sag as the 2021-22 season wore on, and the defense nearly collapsed. The Cards surrendered 29.3 points per game over the last six games of the season and were dispatched easily by the eventual Super Bowl champion Rams. Unfortunately, the Cardinals share a division with Los Angeles, as well as another playoff team, the San Francisco 49ers. That could make for a difficult season for the Birds.
As we enter the first week of NFL games, DraftKings lists the Cardinals at +4000 to win Super Bowl 57. Odds for the Cardinals to win the NFC are +2000. and to win the NFC West +400.
DraftKings Sportsbook has the Cardinals at -110 to win Over 8.5 games.
The Chiefs are listed at +1000 to win Super Bowl 2023, +550 to win the AFC, +175 to win the AFC West for the seventh straight season. If you think Mahomes and Co. may struggle a bit in 2022-23, you can get +100 on Kansas City winning Under 10.5 games.
*Yes, we know a team can’t score half a safety. But it would be nifty.
