Julio Jones has finally found his new home, with the Tennessee Titans.
It isn’t often that a non-quarterback player impacts sports betting odds, but when it’s Julio Jones, it does.
The Titans and Jones host the Arizona Cardinals in week 1 of the season, so how does the addition of Jones impact the odds for week 1 and the Super Bowl?
Titans Odds Shift
Jones, a seven-time Pro Bowler, is a nice addition to the already impressive Titans offensive. The wide receiver will be joining A.J. Brown and Derrick Henry, adding one more weapon for quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Brown and Jones may arguably be the best wide receiver in the league and sports bettors are taking notice.
With an addition like Jones to the roster, it improves the Titans’ chances of winning not just nine games this season, but possibly ten. BetMGM now has the Titans at +110 to win the AFC South division. Before acquiring Jones, the Titans were at +105.
As for the Super Bowl odds, they have also shifted. Most sportsbooks, like DraftKings, had the Titans at around +4000 odds to win the Super Bowl. Thanks to Jones joining the team, DraftKings now have them at +2500.
Arizona Cardinals Week 1 Odds
Of course, adding Jones is also going to shift the Titan’s odds for each match-up in the 2021 season.
The Arizona Cardinals will be traveling to Tennessee to take on the Titans in week 1. The game will highlight some of the league’s best wide receivers, including Jones on the Titans and DeAndre Hopkins on the Cardinals.
All eyes will be on the game to see how Jones meshes with his new team and to see the Cardinals’ improved roster.
Surprisingly, the odds haven’t really changed across sportsbook apps. The Cardinals are still a +2.5 underdog. But facing Jones may make winning the game a little more challenging for Arizona.
This will most likely not be the only trade that makes waves in the sports betting pool. There still has been no word on the fate of Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Be prepared for more blockbuster trades before the season kickoffs on September 9.
