The team added closer Mark Melancon, who led the National League in saves last season, with 39 when he was with the Padres. Arizona also added pitcher Ian Kennedy, who was a starter with the Diamondbacks in 2011. Kennedy had 26 saves last season.
The outfield is full of left-handed hitters, so last November the Snakes added a righty to the mix with Jordan Luplow, who hit 23 home runs against left-handed pitchers last season.
