ASU Sun Devils Vs. UNLV Rebels Game Preview And Odds

The Arizona State Sun Devils are coming off their first win of the season and are looking to add to their winning record by taking down the UNLV Rebels on Saturday.

With the Devils as the favorites by double digits, it isn’t expected to be a tough match up for ASU. In fact, the Rebels could be handed their eighth straight loss, at least that is what Sun Devil fans are hoping for.

And with this being the first ASU game after the official launch of Arizona sports betting apps, it might be a smart bet to make.

UNLV Rebels Preview (0-1)

The Rebels are coming off a close loss, losing to the Eastern Washington Eagles 35-33 in double overtime.

Even though UNLV’s defense isn’t the best, there are some players on the offense that could give ASU some trouble. Running back Charles Williams had two touchdowns, a total of 172 yards, and averaged 6.4 yards per carry last week.

Wide receiver Kyle Williams also had an impressive game, having six receptions and 87 yards. The bad news for UNLV is that even with these weapons on offense, they struggle with quarterback Doug Brumfield, who finished last week’s game with only 5 completions out of 12.

Add ASU’s tough defense to the mix and the Rebels could have a long night in Tempe.

ASU Sun Devils Preview (1-0)

Even though ASU beat Southern Utah 41 to 14 in the season opener, the Sun Devils struggled with sloppy play leading to a number of penalties, racking up 13. Coach Herm Edwards was not happy about that, but the Devils still put on a solid performance.

The defense looked hungry, with Darien Butler leading the way with two interceptions. As for the offense, the running game was impressive, with the Devils finishing the game with 222 rushing yards. And running back Rachaad White did not disappoint with two touchdowns. Quarterback Jayden Daniels completed 10 of his 12 passes and threw for 132 yards.

Yes, ASU was playing a team that almost stood no chance, the Sun Devils looked great and gave fans hope for what the season has in store. But was it just a fluke? Playing the Rebels will be a good test for the team.
