NCAA Week 8: Sun Devils Bye Week And Updated Pac-12 Odds

The Arizona State Sun Devils have hit their bye week and it is much needed after the Sun Devils lost last week to the Utah Utes, being kicked out of the top 25 AGAIN.

With a 5-2 record, now is not the time to be losing if the Devils want to make it to the Pac-12 Championship. Hopefully, ASU can use this bye week wisely to regroup before taking on Washington State in week 9.

The Devils Fall To The Utes

The Utah game had a lot on the line. ASU was ranked #18 and the winner would take the lead of the Pac-12 South. Unfortunately, the Devils weren’t prepared for the game. On top of the penalties, receivers kept dropping balls left and right.

Jayden Daniels was on fire yet again and Curtis Hodges was a play marker, but the rest of the offense struggled, especially in the second half.

In the first half, the defense was solid, but then they decided to let Utah run all over them in the second half. Utah’s defense is the one that stepped up, stopping the Devils’ run game and putting plenty of pressure on Daniels. The score was tied going into the 4th quarter and the Devils ended up losing 21 to 35. This is something that ASU hasn’t had to deal with this year. They usually dominate in the second half of games. But they ended up beating themselves with stupid penalties and dropped balls.

The penalties are nothing new. It is something the Devils have struggled with all season long. They had an astounding 16 penalties in their loss against BYU in week 3. And now they are the most penalized team in the Pac-12. This is something Coach Herm Edwards and the team will need to work on this week before they head into another Pac-12 game.

Pac-12 Title Sports Betting Odds

The Oregon Ducks are on top of the Pac-12 North with a 5-1 record and 2-1 in the conference. Oregon State is close behind with a 2-1 record in the conference and an overall record of 4-2.

As for the Pac-12 South, Utah is 3-0 in the conference with a 4-2 overall record. Both ASU and UCLA are 5-2 with a 3-1 conference record.

At the start of the season, the Oregon Ducks were the favorites to win the Pac-12 with BetMGM listing them at +225 and DraftKings at +275. BetMGM had ASU at +500 and DraftKings at +450.

Not much has changed when it comes to the current DraftKings odds to win the Pac-12 title:

  • Oregon +160
  • Utah +210
  • ASU +400
  • UCLA +700

As for BetMGM, ASU is currently at the top:

  • ASU +135
  • Oregon +185
  • UCLA +550
  • Utah +800

When it comes to the National Championship, the Ducks and Sun Devils are both +8000 to win it. They currently have the best odds in the Pac-12.
