With the launch of sports betting in Arizona, bettors can now make wagers through sportsbook apps. But that isn’t the only way for bettors to get in on the action. Arizona is also home to retail sportsbooks, with more opening within in the next year.
Right now, there are only eight sportsbooks that have launched in Arizona, but a total of 15 have received approval. A handful of retail sportsbooks are currently in the process of being built, looking to open in 2022. But Arizona bettors do have some retail sportsbooks to venture into that are already open.
FanDuel Sportsbook at the Footprint Center is now open and so is TwinSpires at the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino in Payson. Betting windows are also available at Chase Field through Caesars as we await the opening of the Caesars Sportsbook bar at the Chase Field Plaza.
FanDuel Sportsbook Footprint Center

The FanDuel Sportsbook located inside the Footprint Center was the first retail sportsbook to open its doors in Arizona. This also marks the first sportsbook to open inside an NBA arena. The Footprint Center is home to the Phoenix Suns, the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, and the indoor football team, the Arizona Rattlers.
The sportsbook in downtown Phoenix is equipped with 26 kiosks, five betting windows, and a VIP window. There is also a 35-foot wall complete with 40 large televisions, airing live games, and 70 individual seats right in front. The 7,400 square-foot sportsbook also has an outdoor terrace with televisions and seating.
If new bettors have any questions, there are workers all over the sportsbook to help out. Just remember, you must be 21-years-old or older to enter any sportsbook in the state and those awesome bonus offers don’t work at any retail sportsbooks, only online through the sportsbook apps!

Caesars sportsbook is building its new retail location inside the Chase Field Plaza, adjacent to the entrance to Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. While that is under construction, bettors can head to Chase Field to make wagers using betting windows 21-25.
It isn’t anything fancy, but if you have any questions or just feel more comfortable betting in person, this is a great option. There are workers present to help and you can also get a sneak peek of what to expect from the retail sportsbook.
The new sportsbook is hoping to open in early 2022. The 20,000 square foot, two-story bar will be split into a sportsbook and restaurant. The sportsbook will also come with betting kiosks and 1,500 feet of outdoor space.
TwinSpires Mazatzal Hotel and Casino

The TwinSpires sportsbook is the first sportsbook to open inside an Arizona casino. The retail sportsbook is complete with betting windows and kiosks. The casino is owned by the Tonto Apache Tribe, who partnered with TwinSpires sportsbook.
The Mazatzal Hotel and Casino is a 90-minute drive from Phoenix and offers slots, video poker, live poker, blackjack, and now sports betting.
The Future Of Retail Sportsbooks In Arizona
Sports betting is just getting started in the state and bettors can expect more sportsbooks to launch their apps and open retail sportsbooks.
This is what we know so far:
- BetMGM will open a retail sportsbook inside State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals. The retail sportsbook will open by the fall of 2022. BetMGM will also open retail sportsbooks inside Gila River Hotels and Casinos around the valley. These should be open in early 2022 and more details are to come. The BetMGM app is live in Arizona.
- DraftKings will build a sportsbook at the 19th hole of TPC Scottsdale. This is scheduled to open in early 2023. The DraftKings app is available in Arizona.
- The Unibet retail sportsbook is under construction at the Paradise Casino in Yuma and is scheduled to open in December of 2021. The Unibet Arizona app is live.
- Betfred is building a retail sportsbook inside the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort in Fort McDowell and hopes to open by the end of 2021. The app has yet to launch in Arizona.
